We are fortunate to live not far from Rome, in beautiful countryside included in the Cesanese del Piglio DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) area. This is the only DOCG red wine in Lazio and has a very ancient history. In fact, its name comes from Latin and means "cut the wood" precisely because the Romans loved this wine so much that they planted vines everywhere near Rome.
We decided to start making Cesanese after falling madly in love with a hill next to our house that is perfect for this type of grape. A hill that offers ideal exposure in an unspoiled area surrounded by olive trees, laurels and ancient apple varieties from Paliano.
Lettera is a tribute to our horse and the love for art and horses that are the pillars of our lives. The magnificent labels were created by graphic designer and artist Edoardo Bernardi.

After fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks, Lettera was aged for 6 months in French oak barrels to make it even more elegant and bring out more of its aromas. Before entering the market, it was then rested in bottles for another 6 months.
Lettera is a structured and complex wine, characterized by a vivid ruby red color and an intense and complex nose where floral notes such as violets and roses and ripe red fruits such as sour cherry and black cherry are evident but also spicy aromas of black pepper, and toasted and balsamic sensations; in fact, it expresses its best after a few years of aging.
A velvety tannin emerges in the mouth, creating an elegant and balanced wine, but also complex and persistent thanks to its acidity. Lettera is a perfect wine to pair with traditional Roman and Ciociara dishes and also goes well with the finest meats.
