Za'atar is a mixture of spices such as marjoram, oregano, sesame and thyme. It is enjoyed by adding oil and spreading this dressing on a bruschetta or white pizza, possibly over whole white yogurt.
It is perfect for a special appetizer.

Za'atar or za'tar originated in the Middle East in countries that were once part of the Ottoman Empire, and the term denotes the main spice family. In Lebanon and other countries along the Mediterranean coast, each family has its own recipe, and some compounds also have cumin, fennel seed, savory, sumac, and hyssop. Then you can find varieties with pistachio pieces or more unusual ones with smoked za'tar with tomato.
It is used for breakfast over pizza or as an aperitif on toasted bread.
In the East, thyme is a plant that is part of traditional medicine, and za'tar is considered part of a healthy diet that fortifies the body's defenses.
